Lotta Borg Skoglund, MD, PhD

Lotta Borg Skoglund is a senior consultant in general medicine and psychiatry, and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health at Uppsala University, Sweden. She is also affiliated researcher at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm.

 

Her research explores how biological and social factors interact to shape neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and autism. As the founder of the multidisciplinary research initiative GODDESS ADHD, she investigates how hormonal fluctuations influence ADHD and autism symptoms across the different phases of women’s reproductive lives. Her work also focuses on ADHD and comorbid conditions, including autism, substance use disorders, personality disorders, and affective disorders.

 

Beyond her academic work, Dr Borg Skoglund is the co-founder and Medical Director of SMART Psykiatri, a specialized outpatient psychiatric service for children, adolescents, and adults with neurodevelopmental disorders, and of Letterlife, digital tools designed to support everyday functioning and self-management for individuals with ADHD.

 

She is the author of seven popular science books on mental health and neurodiversity. Her internationally acclaimed book ADHD – From Girls to Women: Getting on the Radar has been published in 15 countries worldwide, including China, Korea, the United States, and across Europe and Latin America.
